Bush Still Wrong
The Bush administration has been wrong at every turn in Iraq. For instance:
The war was unnecessary
They did not send enough troops to secure the country after the war
They did not plan past their unrealistic expectations for the occupation
They imposed a Constitution that insured sectarian violence
They still do not have a clue how to resolve the quagmire they have created
So we are suppose to give them one more chance to get it right with the “surge” and if we don’t we are letting the terrorists win.
Of course they are wrong about that too. Their poor execution of the occupation let the terrorists in. The reality based folks, Democrats, are just trying to give the Iraqi’s clear incentive to fix their own country – because the Bushies have demonstrated they are incapable.
Not a single Democratic leader is calling for surrender as the right wing has frequently mischaracterized it. They are insisting on more Iraqi involvement in their own future, something the Bush plan has not fostered in four years.
Some mistakenly believe that if we leave the “terrorists” will follow us home. Wrong again. Most violence in the Iraq Civil War is between Iraqi citizens who would be happy to live in peace, peace that will only come after we leave. Once the Americans are gone the Al Qaeda forces will most likely move on to Afghanistan, not the US.
The Bush administration has bungled the occupation of Iraq and they have proven that they can no longer be trusted with directing it. Seventy percent of the American people have given the new Congress a clear mandate – clean up Mr. Bush’s mess. Stubbornly the corrupt Bush administration is ignoring the voice of the people, just like they did the Baker report.
